Location
The EdgeBCC is located in Central Iowa, near the junction of Interstate 80 and Interstate 35. The land is known to be flood resistant and geologically stable. Central Iowa is not considered a likely target for terrorist activities and the power grid system is underutilized and not prone to blackouts/brownouts.
Facility
The pre-cast, fully insulated concrete structure has been designed and tested to withstand sustained 200 MPH winds, and is enclosed with a dry design, double membrane concrete roof. Air handling units and other equipment is housed at ground level, rather than the roof, to avoid any unnecessary membrane penetrations.
Data Center Designed for Next Generation Components
The EdgeBCC facility is designed to accommodate the increasing power and cooling demands of next generation computing and storage environments such as Blade Centers and SANs. While the per square- foot requirements of these new platforms are often too demanding for existing facilities, the power and cooling architectures of Edge BCC were specifically designed to meet current and future equipment specifications.
Geographically Redundant
LightEdge data connectivity provides full redundancy with services from two Central Offices that are separated by 15 miles. In the event of a catastrophic site failure at one Central Office location, the alternate Central Office provides uninterrupted service for EdgeBCC customers. In addition, dual fiber paths that lead into the building enter at two separate locations, providing an alternate fiber connection if one of the fiber strands were ever severed.
Pre-provisioned PC's and Voice-over-IP Phones
Edge BCC is pre-provisioned with Voice-over-IP handsets that can quickly leverage the disaster recovery failover capability of the LightEdge Hosted PBX VoIP solution. Customers that chose to make an investment in VoIP technology can quickly and seamlessly transfer their phone systems to the EdgeBCC infrastructure. Disaster recovery customers will also have access to pre-provisioned desktop computing environments with a pre-configured customer desktop image. In the event of a disaster, this desktop image can be quickly loaded on a PC for each contracted seat, enabling the customer to move critical employees into the disaster recovery space where they can seamlessly continue critical operational functions.
On-site Data Center Support Staff
EdgeBCC is staffed by technical experts that can provide on-site support for any customer requirements, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. They also provide continuous monitoring for the facility to ensure access security and seamless operations.
Fully Redundant Power Supply
Edge BCC is serviced through two independent power grid substations. In the event of an outage on one grid, utility switching automatically routes to the alternate substation. In the event of a complete loss of power at both locations, UPS systems provide uninterrupted power to the data center facilities while the building switches over to on-site diesel back-up generators. |
